USA’S LEADING COST AND QUALITY PERFORMANCE PURGING SOLUTION FOR INJECTION MOLDING AND BLOW MOLDING
INJECTION MOLDING
Purging Guideline – Standard
Standard purging process does not require Purgemax mixing with purging resin. Soaking prior to purging is not required also.
- Step 1: Maintain processing profile for resin in the machine. (Minimum temperature 100°C)
- Step 2: Empty the screw and barrel of residual resin.
- Step 3: * Place PurgeMax directly into hopper and follow with purging resin immediately.
- Step 4: ** Purging process can be done by purging or injection.
- Step 5: Continuous purging until resin appears natural and clean.
- Step 6: Purging process is complete, resume with standard procedures for next job.
* With applications that require more than one PurgeMax (refer PurgeMax Usage Chart), place one PurgeMax into the hopper and follow with a small amount of purging resin and repeat until entire dosage has been added then charge the barrel with purging resin.
* User can also place a small amount of purging resin before PurgeMax.
** For hot runner and manifold system, purge a small amount from the nozzle before proceed to open mold purging or injection.
Note: For PC material purging, we recommend user to use PurgeMax Plus. Please use the whole packet of PurgeMax Plus without ripping opening the packet. Besides, mixing or blending is not recommended for PC as PC is easy to cause slippage issue.
Purging Guideline – Standard Extreme Carbon
We’ve created another grade called PurgeMax Plus specifically for customers who have serious carbon built up on the screw and barrel. A customer with 100 machines might only a few
machines which are riddled with stubborn black specks and PurgeMax Plus will be able to rid of such black specks as it contains soft abrasive ingredients. We will be happy to supply this grade to our customers F.O.C if required.
- Step 1: Based on the usage chart that printed on the bottom of the box, we may select the
resin quantity & PurgeMax Plus quantity based on the size of the machine screw
diameter. - Step 2: Maintain processing profile for resin in the machine. (Minimum temperature 100°C)
- Step 3: Empty the barrel and screw of residual resin.
- Step 4: Place mixed purging resin directly into hopper or barrel hole (to avoid contamination)
and follow with purging resin immediately. (soaking not required) - Step 5: ** Purging process can be done by purging or injection.
- Step 6: Continuous purging until resin appears natural and clean.
- Step 7: Purging process is complete, resume with standard procedures for next job.
** For hot runner and manifold system, closed mold purging or injection is required.
Note: Upon first trial/testing, we recommend the end user to use 5% of PurgeMax Plus based on resin for the best purging result.
Purging Guideline – Small Tonnage
Occurrence of charging issue is not always but occasionally it still happens on smaller tonnage machines below 100 tonnage in particular. Follow steps below to solve the issue.
- Step 1: Based on the usage chart that printed on the bottom of the box, we may select the resin
quantity & PurgeMax Plus quantity based on the size of the machine screw diameter. - Step 2: Maintain processing profile for resin in the machine. (minimum temperature 100°C)
- Step 3: Empty the screw and barrel of residual resin.
- Step 4: * Place PurgeMax Plus directly into hopper and follow with purging resin immediately.
- Step 5: ** Purging process can be done by purging or injection.
- Step 6: Continuous purging until resin appears natural and clean.
- Step 7: Purging process is complete, resume with standard procedures for next job.
* Screw diameter smaller than 25mm require 0.5 – 1 packet PurgeMax Plus only.
** For hot runner and manifold system, open mold purging or injection is required.
Note: For PC material purging, we recommend user to use PurgeMax Plus. Please use the whole packet of PurgeMax Plus without ripping opening the packet. Besides, mixing or blending is not recommended for PC as PC is easy to cause slippage issue. Note: Actual dosage may be increased depending on machine condition
* With applications that require more than one PurgeMax® (refer PurgeMax Usage Chart), place one PurgeMax® into the hopper and follow with a small amount of purging resin, repeat until the entire dosage has been added then charge the barrel with purging resin. The user can also place a small amount of purging resin before using PurgeMax®.
** For hot runner and manifold systems, purge a small amount from the nozzle before proceeding to open mold purging or injection.
NOTE: A small amount of smoke may appear during purging. Although not very common, it is a normal condition.
NOTE: How many kilograms of resin should be used for purging?
First time user, prepare 50% of your average purging resin quantity used.
Example : Normal purging resin quantity is 10kg. Prepare 5kg of your usual purging resin (crushing/original), follow the Purging Guideline and start purging process. Maintain continuous purging until the purging resin becomes natural and clean. The total quantity of purging resin used for purging will end up as waste; the rest will be your saving.
